A Communal Blessing

Romans 15:4-7:

“For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, and in accord with Christ Jesus, t hat together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.”

The blessing: form a circle (or circles) of 12. The first person says their name, and the group responds with:

___________________________, Jesus Christ was born for you.

Go around the circle. Be sure to look the person in the eye, and to concentrate on the affirmation of this promise as it is being given. As you are receiving the promise, try to look from face to face.

Afterwards, extend the peace:
Leader: The peace of the Lord be always with you.
People: And also with you.
